Scott first began camping only six weeks after he was born and spent most of his young years in the Australian bush with his family.
At 13 years of age he first picked up a camera, his father’s Canon T70, to shoot aircraft at the local airport. Some years later, and while serving in the RAAF, he continued his passion for photography in his spare time, still using 35mm and medium format film and building up experience in the dark room.
Scott left the air force to join Australian Aviation magazine as Deputy Editor in 1999, and in the years since he has followed many paths which took him around Australia and the world. But it was time for a change. He wanted to really focus on his passions; remote Australia, 4WDing, wildlife and photography. So, with those in mind he quit his job and became a freelance photojournalist in the 4WD Industry, and supplemented his income by instructing as a qualified 4WD and Land Rover Experience trainer.
Within 12 months he was offered a role as Editor of Australia’s biggest selling off-road magazine. This role took him all over Australia and evolved into a TV co-presenter’s role for the company. For the last five years he has spent roughly seven months of the year off-road, camped mostly in his swag - his trusty home away from home. His work in words and imagery is widely regarded as some of the best the 4WD industry has ever seen.
Recently he resigned from this full-time role and the glamour of TV, giving him space to further develop his knowledge and passions, and to help others do the same. Scott wants to share his experiences and inspire others to go out and see Australia for themselves. He is a firm believer in being genuine and honest, and he has proven this philosophy works, time and again.
